San Francisco - Farmers Market

Apr 8, 2013

Spending holidays often involves taking an awful lot of pictures - before you leave you just want to stretch out a bit, but how often do you get so see all those cool places, so more on our California trip today. Haven't had the time yet to sort the 1500 pictures I took ... more blogposts coming up for sure :D

I went through my pictures from San Francisco - besides cable cars, rollercoaster-like streets, Victorian homes and the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco is a top foodie destination. It says in San Francisco you can find happiness and eat it too - that's true. This city is so open-minded and diverse, I elected it to my favorite city in the United States. If I need to live somewhere in the US, I would choose SFO.

One of the reasons to leave your bed early on a sunny day in San Francisco is not only the beautiful clear winter morning light, also the option to grab some delicious breakfast at the Farmers Market, held at the Ferry Building on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings year-round. The market is SFO's showcase for Californian-grown, organic products and artisan foods. It offers everything from moderate-to-premium prices. More time would be needed to taste everything offered here, we had at least some of the great food and definitely gained some kilos here.

In the airy ferry building you find nice shops and some more places to eat - if you are for more than fresh seafood, try Hog Island Oysters Company - tastes like out of the sea directly onto your plate.
